Minneapolis is a hail market. Roofs here get pounded, insurance claims follow, and homeowners search for roofers in waves after every storm. So we expected a loud ad market. We pulled the live ad data on the 50 most-reviewed roofing companies in the metro and found the quietest big-city roofing auction in our study.
How many Minneapolis roofers actually run ads?
Of the 50 companies we analyzed, 18 are advertising and 32 are not. Only 12 run Google search ads. Six run Meta ads. Not a single company runs both platforms at once, which tells you nobody in this market is running a coordinated paid program. In a metro this size, that is rare, and it means the search results are close to uncontested.
This is a hail market. We read 91 live creatives and found exactly one that mentions hail.
Who is winning the Minneapolis search auction?
The biggest ad account attached to a Minneapolis roofer holds 211 live ads, but most of them sell pest control and other home services under sister brands. Among companies actually selling roofing, Fit The Bill Construction leads with 92 live ads, followed by Paris Home Exteriors with 42. Garlock-French, a company that has been repairing Twin Cities roofs since 1932, keeps a steady 11 ads live and has one of the most credible stories in the market. Nobody here is spending like the leaders in Dallas or Tampa.
What the winning Minneapolis ads actually say
We read 91 live creatives. The dominant play is the free estimate, 38 of the 91 lead with one, and Fit The Bill runs banner after banner saying little more than click or call for your free consultation. The rest lean on certifications: GAF Master Elite, VSI certified installers, licensed and insured since 2012. It is competent, undifferentiated copy that could run in any city in the country.
Here is the number that matters. Exactly one of the 91 creatives mentions hail or storm damage. One, in a metro where hail is the reason most roofs get replaced and the insurance claim is the reason homeowners can afford it. Nobody is advertising insurance-claim help. Nobody is advertising storm response. The entire reason this market buys roofs is missing from this market's ads.
What this means if you run a Minneapolis roofing company
This is the most open big-market auction we measured. Thirty-two of the 50 most established companies are dark, the search volume is real, and the one message that matches how Minneapolis actually buys roofs, hail damage and the insurance process, is unclaimed. A modest budget with storm-and-claim copy would not be joining a crowd. It would be alone in the lane.

The ads running in Minneapolis right now
“Best Roofers In My Area - Roofers Near Me. Licensed, Insured, And Certified Roofing Contractors Serving The Twin Cities Since 2012.”
The read
The headline bids on the exact words homeowners type. Unglamorous, and precisely matched to how roofing searches actually happen.
“Chimney Repair Experts - Serving the Twin Cities Metro - Trusted Since 1932”
The read
Ninety-four years in the same metro is a claim no competitor can copy. The oldest trust signal in the market, used well.
“Click or Call Now To Get Your Free Estimate”
The read
The market leader by volume runs banners that say only this. It works because almost nobody else is bidding, not because the copy is strong.
